1. Beautiful beaches.
You can admire the beautiful, sandy and rocky beaches. Including Paleokastritsa – old castle beach, the most famous beach of Corfu with its crystal clear water, Nissaki – little island beach, romantic and picturesque, with amazing blue/green colored waters, Avlaki beach, small and calm, in the shape of crescent, with white pebbles and most friendly for children, Kouloura beach, family friendly and surrounded by green trees and strewn with pebbled. 2. Important historical sites
Corfu is an island with rich history. For thousands of years, from ancient Greece to nowadays, the island had many and long historical eras, also numerous invaders and conquerors, which all left their historical print on the island. Today we can admire buildings like Byzantine Basilica church, built before 450 AD, and more importantly the Achilleion Palace, the beautiful summer palace built by the Empress of Austria Elisabeth of Bavaria, also known as Sisi. Also, very famous is the Palace of Saints Michael and George, also known as the Royal Palace, built at the times of British domination in the island between 1814-24, it can be admired in all its glory even in our days. Lovers of history will be amazed, amongst other fortresses, by the Old and New Fortress -of Corfu town. Which, they should not be missed by any visitor.

Corfu is a cosmopolitan island. Cause of the thousands of tourists visiting the island every year, island’s local management has invested with care and respect in tourism. 4. Greek Cuisine
Greek – Mediterranean cuisine is one of the healthiest cuisines of the world. In Corfu Island you can find many taverns and restaurants serving local dishes. Worth mentioning dishes are the famous and traditional Mussaka, the Greek salad, grilled seafood such as octopus or squid, and fresh sea fish.
Also the island is popular for its olive oil and fine red, pink and white wine.
Most of the restaurants offer for free as a gesture of hospitality, a glass of grappa or raki/tsikoudia – strong distilled alcoholic drink produced from the must-residue of the wine-press, at the end of a meal together with a dessert, baklava – layers of crisp phyllo dough alternate with a sugary spiced nut mixture, filled with a syrup made by honey, lemon and cinnamon, galaktobureko – Greek dessert of semolina custard in phyllo or Greek Spoon Sweets – sweet preserves served in a spoon, from almost any fruit, though sour and bitter fruits are especially prized, there are also produced without fruit.

Corfu is an island full of energy. You have many ways to enjoy your time creatively.
Very popular are its water sports. Throughout the island are located athletic centers offering from water-skiing to paragliding. Discover the fantastic underwater world of scuba diving.
